- MONTAGE POPULAIRE (Uk - pop)
Montage Populaire is an experimental, indie-pop project began in autumn 2009, primarily influenced by the cut and paste production/song-writing style of the Fiery Furnaces and Of Montreal, the sample-littered soundscapes of Broadcast, Stereolab and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and the songwriting of the Smiths, David Bowie, the Beatles, the Velvet Underground, the Kinks, Belle and Sebastian, Syd Barrett and so on... After leaking early demo's in October 2009, Mon Pop have already received a deluge of interest from labels, management & promoters, constant airplay on NME radio in UK and N.Y.C and made No.67 in Artrocker's Top 100 records of 2009. The only 'demo' to be included in the list. Since their debut gig in jan 2010 supporting Vivian Girls to a sell-out crowd of 300, Montage Populaire have been playing shows throughout the UK. February sees the band beginning work on their debut EP, set for release in April/May, being recorded in their own studio and co-produced by Iain Gore (Mystery Jets, Babyshambles, Glasvegas etc.).
