It chronicles love, theft, old-people music making, climbing the mountain, Princess Diana, spirit-guide city German shepherds, nearby church and many more special life confections. Totems of happy life gathered here. BIRTHDAY OF BLESS YOU is my new album on Not Not Fun records. It is my meditation on feminine sacred invention, on sun worship in the moments before earth disintegration, on the proud miracle of creation in a trash-proliferation era.

JACKIE-O-MOTHER (Fire Records/US)
Psychédélique. ackie-O Motherfucker was formed in 1994 by Tom Greenwood and Nester Bucket layering guitars and sax over hand cut analog tape loops and collage, collections of found sound, field recordings, cut-up classic rock, hip-hop beats and 4-tracked drones. Assembled and processed, the band rehearsed often in the basement of an abandoned drug store on Mississippi St. in North Portland. The first live performances featured an amplified reel to reel tape machine and electric guitar while additions of live percussion, 8-track tapes, alto sax, and a turntable filled out the sound. Many of the performances of this time were done to provide a live musical score for shadow puppet theatre.

AQUA NEBULA OSCILLATOR (Pan European/Fr)
Psychédélique / Garage. Revenus sur Paris, les Aqua Nebula Oscillator posent les bases de leur son : psychédélique, sombre mais aérien, sans oublier le côté heavy. On pourra alors accuser le groupe de profiter d’un énième revival 70s, le procès est perdu d’avance : Aqua Nebula Oscillator ne reste pas figé dans le carcan drugs & peace pour la pause. Comme le rappelle David : « si tradition il y a pour Aqua Nebula, ce serait plutôt celle du cauchemar hippie ». L’image est forte. Imaginez Leatherface sous LSD… La face cachée du Flower Power. Sous des ornements classieux, leur musique prend alors une dimension puissante en live. S’appuyant sur des grooves massifs, le groupe sait façonner un mur de son exempt de toute considération régressive. Fier héritier de Hawkwind, MC5, Sun Ra ou Silver Apples, Aqua Nebula vise à l’élévation, tout simplement.
