Pompeii, Cate Le Bon's 6th and highly lauded album, saw the multi instrumentalist, composer and highly sought after producer and collaborator (St. Vincent, Wilco, Devendra Banhart, John Grant, H. Hawkline, Deerhunter, Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile) deliver an album suspended in time. The songs felt both of the moment and instant but reactionary and Dada-esque in their insistence to be playful, satirical, and surreal. The follow up to 2019’s Mercury-nominated Reward, bears a storied title summoning apocalypse, but the metaphor eclipses any “dissection of immediacy,” says Le Bon. As Bradford Cox aptly notes about Le Bon, "there are artists who look inwards or outwards, and then there are the very rare ones who transcend either location."

Hawkline, Deerhunter, Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile) livrer un album suspendu dans le temps. Les chansons se sentent à la fois du moment et instantanées, mais réactionnaires et Dada-esques dans leur insistance à être ludiques, satiriques et surréalistes. La suite de l'album Reward, nominé aux Mercury en 2019, porte un titre historique évoquant l'apocalypse, mais la métaphore éclipse toute "dissection de l'immédiateté", dit Le Bon. Comme Bradford Cox le fait remarquer à propos de Le Bon, "il y a des artistes qui regardent vers l'intérieur ou vers l'extérieur, et puis il y a ceux, très rares, qui transcendent l'un ou l'autre endroit".
