For the next event, we welcome the godfather of Footwork, the one and only RP Boo to Montreuil, all the way from Chicago! Also performing, we have Archaic Vault’s Nape from Berlin and Montreuil’s own, carin kelly. Come to see what Speakers R-4.

RP Boo

RP Boo – a.k.a. Kavain Space is a man who is revered and respected amongst the dance music cognoscenti. He’s cited as one of the originators of Footwork, the fast, repetitive, rhythmically syncopated music & dance style that’s a grandchild of Chicago house and which has been brought to the wider world via releases from Planet Mu and others, alongside internet archaeology from fans, experts and enthusiasts.

Anyone who’s ever heard a set from carin kelly knows how easily the Rinse FM resident glides from rhythm to rhythm. Influenced by UK and US bass music, her percussive sets are vibrant, simultaneously exploring depth in textures and groove, and catching dancefloors off guard with her ingenious blending of tempos and genres. carin kelly knows her classics and she rarely goes where we expect her to - far from a traditional set-building, for the best.

Nape

Running the experimental label and event series Archaic Vaults, Severin Black has been forming a worldwide community around marginal music since 2020; the most recent collaborations include shows and released material alongside YL Hooi, Oxhy, Ewa Awe, Flora Yin-Wong, Alex Zhang Hungtai, Lisa Lerkenfeldt, Civilistjävel and Christoph de Babalon. Severin also has a sizable discography under the alias Nape, the most recent being the Ten Tonne Angel on Psychic Liberation album. They have performed in spaces such as the ICA (London), KM28 (Berlin), Le Poisson Rouge (New York), Mission To Seafarers (Melbourne) and on a giant pipe organ in a north-east London church.
